A Giving Tuesday Wrap Up

A guest blog by Stephanie Mann, Development Director

Over the last couple of weeks, the Upland Animal Shelter was transformed into a winter wonderland, including a 7-and-a-half-foot tall tree turned snowman at the hands of our creative decorating team in preparation for our Tree Lighting and Give Big Party on November 29.

'Tis the season to be jolly, Fa la la la la la la la!

Guests got to enjoy delicious treats, make cat toys for our shelter cats, shop in the 2nd Chance Thrift Shop Holiday Shoppe, help us light the tree, and try their luck at winning raffle and door prizes. We were happy to see so many long-time supporters who have spent so much of their time and energy supporting the shelter, as well as new faces that want to help all of the precious animals at the shelter.

Karen and Jack Hermann win big!

Don we now our gay apparel, Fa la la la la la la la!

Guests were decked out in their finest holiday attire (including festive socks!) and we awarded prizes for the “cutest” and “ugliest” sweaters. Two of our dedicated volunteers won these coveted titles thanks to their delightful sweaters. Need a sweater of your own?  Be sure to check out our selection at 2nd Chance Thrift Shop.

Very nice socks!

Follow me in merry measure, Fa la la la la la la la!

Our party was made even merrier thanks to the generous donors who participated in the annual day of global giving known as Giving Tuesday. This year, Giving Tuesday fell on November 29th and in the spirit of giving, we wanted to give back to the community we call home, which is why we chose this special day to host our Tree Lighting and Give Big Party.

The holidays will certainly be merrier for the animals that await adoption in the shelter thanks to the almost $4,000 that was raised this Giving Tuesday.

Fast away the old year passes, Fa la la la la la la la!

As 2016 comes to an end, it is a perfect time to continue the giving spirit to help make 2017 the best year possible for all of the animals that come through our doors every day. Please visit our website to see the ways you can make a difference in the lives of homeless animals. Thank you for making the holidays bright this year and for years to come!

Hail the new, ye lads and lasses, Fa la la la la la la la!
