It's Kitten Season!

Top 5 Ways You Can Help During Kitten Season

Wait...

We are still seeing a LOT of abandoned kittens coming into the shelter.  If you happen to find a litter that appears to be abandoned by their mother, please wait at least 24 hours to confirm that she is not coming back.  Sometimes she is out hunting or waiting for you to leave.  It's very likely that she is nearby and will move her kittens to protect them, and they won't be there when you check again.  This waiting period is important because the mortality rate for newborn kittens taken from their mother is very high.

If you have any questions regarding what appear to be abandoned kittens, please send an e-mail to our Foster Coordinator.

Adopt...

Cayden (ID#A050495)

Come see all the kittens (and other animals) like Cayden that need a good home at the Upland Animal Shelter.  You might find a perfect match or two...

Foster...

Our youngest and most vulnerable kittens need all they help they can get.  They are too small to stay in the shelter and must be fostered in a home environment until they are old enough to be adopted.  To become a foster, send an e-mail to our Foster Coordinator.

You can also visit our booth at Petco's "Be a Foster" Event on Saturday, June 30 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at 9137 Central Avenue in Montclair.  We'll be happy to answer all your questions about fostering.

Donate...

We always need monetary donations and supplies such as kitty litter, litter pans, and kitten food.  You can make a donation here or shop our Shelter Wish List on Amazon and have your donation sent directly to us at Upland Animal Shelter.  Plus, if you designate Friends of Upland Animal Shelter as the charitable organization you wish to support on AmazonSmile, a portion of your purchase will be donated to us at no extra cost to you.

Spay and Neuter Your Animals...

You can be a big part of the solution to pet overpopulation by spaying and neutering your pets and free-roaming neighborhood cats. For information about low-cost spay/neuter services and guidance on free-roaming neighborhood cats, please send our Foster Coordinator an e-mail.
