The Lifesaving Programs of Dogtoberfest

Your Support Makes Adoption Possible

Not every pet who arrives at the shelter is ready for adoption or is adopted quickly. Many need extra attention, care, or advocacy before they’re ready to join a family.  And, with full shelters everywhere, many need extra time to find their forever home. With your help, we can provide:

  • Training: Behavioral support that helps shy, anxious, or energetic pets learn the skills they need to succeed in a home.
  • Advocacy: Many abandoned, abused or stray pets arrive at the shelter fearful and under socialized. They won’t be successful at finding homes without staff or volunteers giving them the nurturing and daily support they need.
  • Extended Care:  Medical attention, special diets, rehabilitation, and extra time for pets who just require more time to find the right home.
  • TNR (Trap–Neuter–Return):  Some free-roaming, unowned community cats don't do well in the shelter or in homes.  TNR is a humane, effective approach that reduces overpopulation, prevents suffering, and allows these cats to live out their lives in their familiar outdoor environments.
  • Foster Care:  A bridge to adoption with loving temporary homes where pets can heal, socialize, and grow outside the shelter walls.
  • Transfers: Safe transport for pets from overcrowded shelters, giving them a second chance and time to find homes.

A scared little dog arrives from another shelter, part of our transfer program to extend our lifesaving ability beyond Upland.
